Pool eligibility
The CFP Bracket is a Pools product and all participants must be 18 or older.
Official field
The contest uses the official College Football Playoff field and bracket structure for that season. The product does not permanently hard-code a specific playoff size or seeding model.
Entry and lock
Entrants complete the full bracket before the published contest lock. The default lock is the scheduled kickoff of the first CFP game.
Default scoring
Use progressive scoring by round: opening playoff round 1 point per correct winner, next round 2, semifinal 4 and National Championship 8. If the official structure changes, continue doubling the value by round.
Bracket-path scoring
The default CFP Bracket uses strict bracket-path scoring. A later-round selection scores only when that team was correctly advanced through the entrant's bracket path.
Byes
Teams receiving official byes are advanced automatically into the proper round. No points are awarded for a bye.
Championship tiebreak
Recommended order: correct national champion, correct championship matchup, closest predicted combined championship-game score, closest predicted champion score, then Commissioner decision.
Locked bracket
Once the CFP bracket locks, selections cannot be changed except through an audited Commissioner correction.
