Fantasy League Commissioner Guide

A good commissioner reduces confusion by making rules clear before play starts and using consistent, auditable decisions during the season.

Set the rules before inviting players

Finalize the format, roster, scoring, draft, waivers, trades, schedule and playoffs before the league becomes active.

Use clear invitations

Players should know the sport, format, draft date, league size and any important custom settings before joining.

Avoid mid-season surprises

Do not change competitive rules casually after games begin. When a correction is required, document what changed and why.

Handle scoring issues with evidence

Check the league's actual scoring settings, source stats, correction history and provider status before changing a score.

Communicate important changes

Draft changes, scoring corrections, playoff updates and other material decisions should be clearly announced to league members.

Delegate without giving away ownership

Co-commissioners may help operate assigned leagues, but billing, plan ownership and financial controls remain with the primary owner.

Use official rules as the source of truth

League-specific settings and the published sport/game rules should control decisions rather than informal chat or assumptions.
